The Origins Centre is administered by the Origins Centre Association, a Section 21 or Public Benefit Company. The Association was established in 2005 to take over the management of the completed project.
The Origins Centre Project was completed in March 2006 and opened by the then South African President, Thabo Mbeki. The Association has close ties to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) but is a separate legal entity with many non-Wits directors serving on its board.The board meets quarterly and a smaller management committee meets more frequently.
